Notre Dame’s top rank lasted only a week after being defeated 104-95 by the NC State wolfpack on Sunday, February 23.
After trailing at half time and coming back to tie it late in the fourth quarter, Notre Dame forced OT not once but twice.
Both teams had multiple players scoring in double figures, with an astonishing performance from Zoe Brooks, who had 33 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists for NC State; and Hannah Hidalgo, who had 26 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists for Notre Dame.
This double OT upset dropped Notre Dame’s rank from 1 to 3 and bumped NC State’s from 13 to 9.
