A man died after riding a roller coaster at Universal Orlando Resort’s newest theme park, Epic Universe, on the night of September 17th.
Stardust Racers, the roller coaster in question, is one of the headline attractions at the Universal property. The death was ruled an accident according to the Orlando area medical examiner, Joshua Stephany. The guest, 32-year-old Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, was pronounced dead at the hospital with Orange County fire officials confirming he hadn’t fallen off the ride.
Stardust Racers remains closed until further notice. The resort’s website described the attraction as “a breathtaking, dual-launch coaster reaching incredible speeds…” Universal remains cooperative with the investigation, with a representative stating, “We are devastated by this tragic event and extend our sincerest sympathies to the guest’s loved ones.”
