When building a resume, it is important to include not only past work experience, but also any volunteering or clubs you may be involved in. All of this can be included on a resume or cover letter. When applying for a job make sure to consider your interests and what would be the most practical for you. For example, if you don’t enjoy being outside, applying for a job as a lifeguard at your local pool may not be the best idea for you. Maybe you prefer a more quiet-paced job, and working at a bookstore could be a fitting position. Keep in mind, jobs are a big-time commitment and require staying organized. One senior said,“I like working and making money, but sometimes it is stressful”. To keep from feeling overwhelmed, you can request to only work one or two shifts a week and make sure your schoolwork is done in a timely manner without procrastination.
